"The Little Bay Baking Waffle and Donut Hole Mix makes the most unique donut holes that to me tasted much like a funnel cake which I’ve always longed for and can’t have being celiac. Farmers markets are one of my favorite things about summer with fresh produce and locally made foods of all kinds.

Little Bay Baking Company will be participating in the Community Market sponsored by The Herbal Path this summer in Dover New Hampshire. In addition to our mixes, we will be selling fresh baked cookies, breads and desserts on the second Tuesday of the month. Stop by on June 8, July 13, August 10 and September 14. The Market will be held at 839 Central Avenue rain or shine between 12 and 5 pm. Hope to see you there!

Beer Batter Fish

Our daughter was home visiting and requested beer batter fish for her birthday supper. We used 1 cup of our Little Bay Baking Company Corn Bread and Muffin mix and added one egg and 1 and 1/2 cups of gluten free beer. We coated the fish pieces with gluten free flour before we dipped them in the beer batter. We then deep fried the pieces in hot oil until golden brown. Yumm!! Add a little tartar sauce mixed with cocktail sauce and you have a dish made in gluten free heaven.

Gluten Free Sandwich & Dinner Rolls

We are very pleased to announce that Little Bay Baking Company and Good for Life Foods LLC have developed a new gluten free dairy free dinner roll and sandwich roll that are starting to appear in restaurants around New England. The rolls are made in a dedicated gluten free facility in Dover, NH and are shipped fresh overnight.

Enjoy the dinner rolls at Burton's Grill locations in Boston, MA, Hingham, MA and South Windsor CT. Popovers on the Square in Portsmouth NH makes a great panni on our sandwich rolls and Wild Willy's in Worcester is using them to serve up their delicious burgers.

My Favorite Ice Cream Cones

I recently discovered GOLDbaum's gluten free ice cream cones. They come in both chocolate sugar cones and ice cream cups. Very crispy and crunchy they are the perfect compliment to the coconut frozen dessert we now use at our house in place of ice cream (but that is a topic for another post.) The ice cream cones are low in calories and high in flavor. I will definitely be buying these again. I found them at my local Demoulas Market Basket supermarket and they were even on sale!!

We held our second annual Open House Weekend in conjunction with NH Open Doors and New Hampshire Made. Thank you to everyone who came by to tour our factory and taste some fresh made gluten free dairy free baked goods. We saw some familiar faces and meet some new friends. We look forward to doing it again next year.

As part of the celebration we raffled off a gift basket of six of our baking mixes. Congratulations to Max DeAngelis of Durham NH.

GLUTEN FREE GRANOLA

Little Bay Baking was at the New England Celiac Event in Marlboro Massacuhsetts yesterday and in between talking with customers, I met a company from Vermont called "West Meadow Farm Bakery" They were selling a gluten free granola called "Feeling Groovy Granola". I was a big fan of Quaker Oats Granola until I went gluten free 30 years ago and I have tried to find a really good gluten free granola ever since. My search is over. It was crunchy and just sweet enough - tasting of brown sugar, honey and raisins. Great right out of the bag - I can't wait to try it as a topping for hot GF cereal. Little Bay Baking Company, a company based in Dover, New Hampshire, has recently completed
the requirements to qualify for the Celiac Sprue Association’s Recognition Seal Program. The use of the CSA five crossed grain Seal on packaging means the manufacturer has agreed to adhere to CSA’s standards in representing their product to be free of wheat, barley, rye and oats (WBRO), their derivatives and crosses in product, processing or packaging. Little Bay Baking Company’s packaging will feature the CSA Recognition Seal to indicate the products are appropriate for a medically prescribed celiac diet.

One Lonely Whoopie Pie!

We made a big plate of whoopie pies yesterday to take to Healthy Haven and all but one disappeared. All chocolatey goodness with a fluffy marshmallow filling I call them heaven on a plate. Spent the Day in Tiverton Rhode Island

Today was the second anniversary of a great gluten free store - Healthy Haven in Tiverton Rhode Island. It's not often you get to shop in a store where EVERYTHING is gluten free. No label reading necessary. You can shop like most everyone else in a grocery store does. You can browse and pick up what looks interesting instead of wondering if it is something you can eat.
Kathi Thiboutot has done an amazing job of gathering gluten free products from around the country for her store - everything from pasta and cereals to ice cream cones and frozen pizza. This place is definitely worth the trip.

We had a great time handing out samples of chocolate whoopie pies, sugar cookies and chocolate cupcakes - all made from our baking mixes. Check out our recipe page. Our new premade sandwich buns were a big hit and Kathi will be stocking them starting September 17.
